It's a pretty unique idea, I really enjoyed it and some obvious effort was put into making each frame.
Keep it up, I hope to see more from you and further improvement of your drawing skills.

CosmicArt responds:

thanks, ill be having another video out in about a week or two

Okay, so I have no idea what's going on. I feel like you're watching a video or listening to a podcast no one else can hear and talking back to it. I assume there's two people talking? Maybe? It's very difficult to tell if there's two, let alone which one is talking. There's not really a lot of motion or anything going on either, just a lot of not English on screen.

But one thing that gets me "I saw this video and I just had to show you". Only because the drawing style changed made me question whether or not you made the clip that comes after it or you actually took it from somewhere.
That last bit is just a concern and was not reflected in your review score.

Glory-v responds:

Thanks for the tips, I'm still working out on how to do things I mean this is only my second video so I'm still learning. But ya thanks I totally agree with you I thought it would be better than this but oh well you learn from your mistakes. Oh and I did make the clip, I made all of it.Thanks for the feed back. :)

I do understand that the animation was rendered in 12fps(I wanna make that clear), but the characters do move incredibly slow. Try taking inspiration from the outside world and people-watch. See how normal people move briskly transitioning from one movement to the next, every part starting and stopping at different times and intervals.
Not only is the motion incredibly slow but also it never stops. There's no point in which the stick figures are still, every part is in constant transition to the next stage. This results in an arm slowly adjusting for 5 seconds from one stance to another in a linear path, when in reality the arm would move after the leg has already begun its shift, and still finish moving more quickly because it carries less weight on it. The arm may also rubber-band back a bit once it hits its mark to give a little bounce(which is also realistic to a sudden stop).
The camera in contrast is very quick and gets a little sickening.

Besides animation, the sfx sound as though they were recorded in an air duct, which I know you can do better because your original music is in a much higher quality. Try playing with mixed tones and drumkits in your programs instead of going online for a cheap free download. Sound design is crucial to feel.

Lastly there's a really fuzzy aesthetic over the entire video; which unintentionally(I'm sure) looks like you rendered a 240p video and scaled upward.

Overall you just need more practice working on shorter animations to develop skills in creating more realistic motion before you start getting into more complex 3D work.

Metapixelatron responds:

I will try to mix some better quality sounds. I am making more realistic actions for my new skeleton. As for the fuzzy aspect, I notice it too. I don't know what it could be, but I believe it might be caused by the upload. I say this, because it was rendered in 480p and the original mp4 video looks a lot better. Next time I will do it in 480p and see if it looks better.
EDIT: I meant to say "next time I will do it in 720p" lol sorry. XD

Not original, but to be fair I do see you tagged this video as a parody, don't worry. You may want to add that to the description or title or something as to not get blammed. A lot of people try to pass obvious copy-cat uploads as their own and I hate seeing that happen to legitimate parodies of other NG work.

This clearly shows off Oney's style for the original too, but I wish it was a bit... more. The visual humor is nice, but I want more from the dialogue. Otherwise I'd just go watch Oney's toon again for the 100th time and over-dub scar where appropriate.

BadCookieDough responds:

Hey! Thanks for your review, it really means a lot to get feedback this detailed, and I do have to agree it definitely shows a lot of outside influence (I think we've seen oney's cartoons like a billion times because they're just so damn great, so that would probably explain it... haha :D)

The joke itself and the way he act was actually inspired by scrubs episode where Turk painted his face as Harry tho (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53o44qF0u5Q), but I can definitely see how the way they are acting resembles a lot of Oney's style, especially that this is also Harry Potter.

Joke was directed at the scene where Vold touched Harry's scar in the movie, which was, at least to us done in kinda weird manner (probably not only us considering tons of uploads of this scene on YT with Barry White's music, if you know what I mean :>)

The video was definitely not done to copy-cat someone, nor someone's joke (even in scrubs that wasn't the actual joke, just made us think about it few years later), but looks like we got Oney to rub on us (ooh) too, and the vid was definitely inspired by it at least to some degree (probably even pretty major one now that you made me look at it again tho, especially first part before we got to the actual joke haha :D)

Credit's wise... I'm not quite sure what we could put, I mean no single idea is ever taken out of nowhere, the fact we speak or type in the first place is something we got from others too. So if you got any idea on how to formulate credits hit me up in a PM, we'd be more than happy to give recognition to anyone who influenced us, especially if it's Oney (let alone the talent and sense of humor, he just seems like a really nice guy, so we definitely wouldn't want to wrong him in any way :)), but just not sure "we watched some vids and it kinda resembles them even tho we got the idea from somewhere else" fits well into credits... hehe :D

Thanks again for taking the time to write it, it really means a lot!

"also my first animation that i spent more than 3 minutes on"

There never should be animation you spend less on. It does however look like 5 minutes of effort, so that's a good step. Also I see no reason for this to be rated A. It's a 12 second animation with the last two frames a dick.

chrisfield12 responds:

ya well fooled u! it was actually like 30 minutes! and idk how the rating system with newgrounds works yet, so i dont wanna rate anything too low. should it be M?

Sprite animations featuring Mario and Sonic aren't something new on the site. This includes even the way you displayed them here in a dragon ball or anime-esque presentation.

A little tip as well, NEVER EVER FLIPPIN EVER use the nintendo logo or sega logo(or any trademarks for that matter, that's the R thing in the circle) You are 10x more likely to get DMCA'd(though that is uncommon here to my knowledge) simply because a company can actually lose their trademark if they don't control who is allowed to use it, where they display it and what form it is displayed in. That being said they also aren't actually affiliated with you in making your sprite series so it's pointless credits.

However, none of this is why I gave you a low score.

There isn't too much to the animation. there are a ton of sprite sheet loops and even more still of the characters doing nothing(though I do understand that is very anime) but just makes the video lacking. As an intro it is very long(again I know, anime) which can suck if you see it before EVERY episode you will make and frankly the fact it's a swf means you also CAN'T skip it. Like at all. I'm sure someone out there could do some html voodoo shit but it would probably take most people longer than the intro itself lasts.

Also because you used the Dragon Ball Super opening I'm sure you are aware "The World's Strongest" is also a movie title in the series and I believe you also could probably come up with something better and more fitting that describes this series(I honestly have no idea what it's about yet. Looks like SMBZ to me).

Lastly another point that reduced your score for me was that it's an opening. That's great you put a lot of work into it and all, but if we'll be seeing this opening inside of future animations by you, I don't see a reason that it needs it's own place on the site.

I'm not going to blam your submission because I feel you are probably proud of your work(which is what Newgrounds is all about) so I'll simply give you a lower-middle score to represent what I've summed up here, hope you take some advice from mine and other people's reviews(because " FEEDBACK IS MUCH APPRECIATIVE!") and leave the blamming and saving to everyone else on the Under Judgment portal tab.

ChaosDemonV1 responds:

Hey there.

Sorry for the VERY late reply (I'm guessing this was 2 years since you've posted this review?), but I can see what you're saying. There shouldn't be any reason for me to include the two logos in question and I'm being extra careful not to go over the boundaries and accidentally get DMCA'd, (which, like you said before, is very uncommon on a website like Newgrounds.)

I had since took your advice and won't post an opening animation of any sort here. For now on, it'll only be in every episode of TWS that I post here instead, so there might be a chance that I'll be deleting this soon. I also understand that uploading a swf version of something like this would be annoying, especially since it'll loop continuously, so I'll make sure to include a preloader the next time I post an animation, or just upload it in a video format like a .mp4 file.

Speaking of opening, I'm currently revising this opening. It won't have Dragon Ball Super's opening music. It'll have an entirely new opening music, one that's at least passable than the one used originally. However, I won't promise changing the name of the series though, since it fits well to me.

I appreciate you not blamming me for an animation that's mediocre at best and very much appreciate the feedback you've provided me awhile back. Hopefully I'll improve my skills as time progresses.

Thank you for the constructive criticism and have a nice day.

I get what you were going for with "not much going on" because... well, it's depression. But then again the little that does happen isn't well animated or drawn and the same still we're treated to in the entire duration is pretty poorly made. Overall it just feels like you chose this topic because you wouldn't have to do much or put a lot of effort into it.

MariusMan responds:

Yeah, I did choose this particular subject because it wasn't that complicated to produce, but that doesn't mean this was the most I could put into it. It was the most I wanted to put into it. You should know that this just doesn't just exist because it was easy to make. That is maybe 25% of the reason. The main reason was that there's not much going on, in general. Plus, this is my first "real" animation ever, so I chose an appropriate subject.

Not the greatest or highest detailed modeling and textures, but excellent 3D work in making the characters move fluidly(which by the title I believe to be your goal)
Keep it up!

RaccoonRezillo responds:

Thank you :) yea if I can only choose one part to be good at I wanted to focus character animation.

I make stuff; sometimes for money, but always for fun.
